Minor changes to the Image Engine pre-caching policy

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I’ve made a small tweak to the Image Engine Javascript that drives my portfolio browser. In the initial release, the script automatically started pre-caching all the full-sized images as soon as the page had finished loading. Now only the first 5 images are pre-cached; after that, images are loaded on demand as they are selected. [...]

Introducing my brand new portfolio pages

Monday, December 28th, 2009

This evening I am very pleased to be able to announce the launch of my brand new portfolio pages, featuring more than 100 samples of artwork from the last 15 years that I have been working as a professional artist. This is made even more exciting for me as I’m using new slide show software [...]

My Jambo! Safari character artwork in the wild

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Although I’m not able to publish any of the artwork I created for Jambo! Safari myself, there seems to be plenty of examples of my environment and character concepts, and character artwork scattered around the interwebs. Below are samples and links to a few of my images: Amy Wildman character artwork on Gamblog.fr Max Söderström [...]

Jambo! Safari Ranger Adventure

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Since starting work full time at Full Fat, I’ve worked almost exclusively on titles for the Nintendo DS, including Biker Mice From Mars, The Sims 2: Castaway, and most recently The Sims 2: Apartment Pets, released in August 2008. However, the end of November saw the release of the first Wii game I’ve worked on: [...]

Time for some blog CPR

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Which in this case stands for Concerted Publishing Regime. The combined pressure of a full time job, a (relatively) new baby, and the odd bit of freelance work means that I’ve been neglecting this blog for some time now. Few things make a website seem more unloved and abandoned than a blog that hasn’t been [...]

Take flight with your iPhone

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

My good friend, top code monkey and bloody nice bloke Bobbin Threadbare of Hidden Games has just released his first game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Air Cadets is a fun little 3D arcade style flying game, designed from the outset to be quick and easy to learn and play. The 3D graphics push [...]

Bloody Vikings

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Spam, spam, spam. I’ve been deluged with it of late. The scumbags that masquerade as SOEs have been using my contact form to send me useless links to useless sites. I’ve been slowly tightening the restrictions on what could be sent via that form; first I banned BBCode, then I was forced to ban web [...]

Is there someone else up there we could talk to?

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

This poor blog has been languishing, unloved and untouched, for quite a while now. A lot of things have changed since I last posted, and I’ve finally decided it’s time to pull my finger out and start updating the site again. I realise not many people (if any) actually read this blog, but it’s here, [...]

Some new images added to my portfolio

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

I have been really busy lately, and have generated a lot of new illustrations that I am pretty pleased with. I’ve added samples of some of this new work to my portfolio. There is still a fair bit of new stuff to be added, but I’m waiting for clearance from the client before I publish [...]

Indus Valley makes the shortlist at the Digital Media Awards

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

After been nominated at the start of the month, The BBC Indus Valley site has made the shortlist of Finalists for a Digital Media Award. I am very pleased to say that I have been invited to attend the award ceremony with the members of the BBC production team who worked on the site. This [...]
