Flash in the pan

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Adobe has announced their acquisition of Macromedia, makers of (among other things) Flash and Dreamweaver. Flash is enormously popular and enormously powerful, but (in my opinion) has never had the GUI polish of Adobe’s products. Hopefully this deal will see some of Adobe’s UI know-how rubbing off on Flash, and better integration with their vector [...]

Software buying frenzy

Saturday, April 16th, 2005

A few days ago I pre-ordered a copy of Tiger, due out on 29 April, and last night I took the plunge and pre-ordered Adobe Creative Suite 2. I’ve ordered the Standard addition, as I have no need for GoLive and Acrobat (included in the Premium Suite).

I’m looking forward to the new tools in Illustrator [...]

New images added

Wednesday, April 6th, 2005

I’ve added a couple of new images to my portfolio. The characters are for a forthcoming mobile phone game, but as the developer hasn’t launched it, I can’t reveal the details yet.

I’m very pleased with these two images. The brief called for a skater/urban/extreme sports feel, and a more grungy look than my usual artwork. [...]

New badges available

Monday, April 4th, 2005

If you like my artwork and would like to help spread the word, I’ve added a new page of badges and HTML snippets that you can use on your website. If you do add a link, let me know. I’m happy to consider a reciprocal link, subject to my review of your site content (SEOs [...]

BBC Schools Indus Valley site launched

Friday, March 4th, 2005

I recently produced a large quantity of images for a new BBC Schools project on the Indus Valley, and the site went public on 25th February. If you have 15-20 minutes to spare, you can work your way through the entire BBC Schools Indus Valley site. I have also added a selection of images from [...]

New sketch for my portfolio

Friday, February 25th, 2005

I’ve been doing a lot of work for Flash projects lately, and my portfolio is dominated by the clean, flat vector style that is usually favoured for Flash content. My agent has suggested that I try and create some more detailed work to appeal to childrens book publishers, who favour a more fine art approach, [...]

Now accepting Credit Card payments with PayPal

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

I have just set up a PayPal account, so international customers can now pay for artwork by credit card. The service enables me to generate an invoice directly from my PayPal account, delivered by e-mail. Customers can then use the secure PayPal servers to make a payment. When time allows, I will add a proper [...]

New images available at last

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

I’ve finally had time to put some of my latest work online. It is still far from complete, as the bulk of the work I’ve done over the last few months still can’t be shown; the site it was created for is still under development. I’m told that it should be launched at the end [...]

Staggering home

Monday, October 25th, 2004

A big thank you to Ben, Damian, Dave, Kristian and Russell for joining me on my Stag Night on Saturday. It was a low key affair (not even close to matching the debauchery of Elaine’s Hen Night), but I had a great evening. Good company, a few beers (actually quite a lot of beer by [...]

I am officially evil

Thursday, October 7th, 2004

Yes, alright. I’ve sold my soul to the devil, and added a few “Link Exchange” entries to my links page. These are links to sites that I have no real interest in, but putting a link on this site means I get a reciprocal link elsewhere, which could increase my traffic and search engine ranking. [...]
