Browser Compatibility

Where possible, this site conforms to the standards set down by the W3C, and uses semantic markup and CSS to separate the appearance from the content. It should display as intended in most* modern browsers; Windows Internet Explorer 5 and above, all Gecko based browsers (Mozilla, Firefox and Camino, Netscape Browser 6 and above), Opera, Safari and iCab.

Older browsers, and non-visual browsers like Lynx should have full access to all the content of the site.

Exceptions

The main features of the site are provided by third party software, and I don't have complete control over the content generated by these products, so I cannot guarantee complete standards conformance throughout the whole site.

Mac Internet Explorer

*The only modern browser that has problems with this site is Internet Explorer on the Mac, which refuses to display the background images that decorate the main pages. This doesn't affect the content of the site, just the appearance.

However, Microsoft recently announced that they are ceasing all support for Internet Exporer for Mac:

Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and will provide no further security or performance updates.

Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari.

Unless you have a really good reason for sticking with Internet Explorer, I urge you to switch to a better solution. You'll be glad you did.
