Summary

I have been working as a concept artist for Full Fat since May 2006. I worked as a freelance illustrator from 2001 and prior to that I spent 5 years as one half of design partnership Team Artonomy. I graduated from Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic (now Coventry University) in 1990 with a BA(Hons) in Industrial Design.

I specialise in character design and illustration for printed media, web sites, and Flash animation.

I am no longer accepting full time work, but if you have a small project that you think I might be suitable for, please contact me. I am happy to answer any queries, talk through your requirements, and provide you with a quote (after seeing a detailed brief).

I just wanted to say thanks a million for all your time, effort and highly creative input to the Indus Valley [project]. I think the lion's share of applause must go to both you and Deirdre [BBC Flash designer] for your amazing interpretation of the content. It was just brilliant to work with you - you're incredibly talented, dedicated and punctual.

Awards

2004

Learning on Screen Award

The BBC Learning Northern Ireland site Musical Mysteries was outright winner for the 2004 Learning on Screen Award for the Interactive Primary Learning category.

The awards were organised by the Society for Screen Based Learning (SSBL) and the British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC).

The SSBL is recognised by the Department for Education, the Welsh Office Education Department and the Scottish Executive Education and Lifelong Learning Department.

2003

Royal Television Society Award

The BBC Scotland TV programme and accompanying website Things We Wear won a Royal Television Society award in the "Primary and Secondary Multimedia and Interactive" category.

The RTS said:

This winning entry took care to address students', teachers' and parents' learning. It embraced some local cultural details in what is clearly a world product. Well chosen animation engaged the learner actively and creatively whilst taking care to support some complex learning outcomes. It focused on an area that already attracts students as consumers, but it helped them to deconstruct and critique their purchases with fresh insights. The detail in some excellent teachers' notes and ambitious extension activities all added up to a simple, exemplary entry that never talked down to its learners. The winner successfully crosses boundaries of age, gender and culture to rise to the top of a competitive entry list.
